hey guys!! 2 posts in one week?? wowza I must be thriving on summer vacation!!

My freshman year of college ended a few weeks back, but I felt like I needed some time to reflect and look back on this year before I wrote a blog post about it. If you guys remember, one of my first blog posts was an unfiltered review of my first semester of college, linked here: https://alyssaestaner.wixsite.com/alyssaestaner/blog/an-unfiltered-review-on-my-first-semester-of-college ,(shameless plug) but I wanted to do another post about my entire freshman year as a whole!!

All in all, this year was singlehandedly the best year of my entire life. From meeting some incredible new friends, to growing in my relationship with God, and to studying what I want to do for the rest of my life, I can say whole-heartingly that Baylor made my first year of college one that I will never forget.

But let me tell you, this year was not all rainbows and butterflies. Don't get me wrong, a lot of it was, but there were many days that were pretty low. I struggled a lot with finding myself and finding my place, but once I did, the best of a good day became the worst of another. I learned that in order for me to have a really good day, I needed to start every morning with a happy soul and a grateful heart. Easier said than done, I know, but it truly made all of the difference.

Part of what made my freshman year so incredible was my roommate, Kaitlyn Lack. This girl is my hype girl, my homie, and truly one of the most selfless and genuine people I have ever met in my entire life. You can always count on Kait to make you laugh until you pee yourself, and I have done this on numerous occasions so I can personally testify. Kaitlyn's bright and positive outlook on life was truly inspiring and it made me do the same. From late night jam sessions, scaring each other any chance we got, and teaching ourselves how to dance (unsuccessfully), this year with "King Kait" was the absolute best. Kait, if you are reading this right now you are probably laughing at me for being super sentimental. But its okay, you love me anyway!!

Another BIG part of this year was my sorority, alpha chi omega. You guys. These sisters are something else. The most genuine people you will EVER meet belong to this chapter and it makes my heart so so happy to know this is where I ended up!! My big, Alex, has seriously become one of my best friends and I am actually visiting her in California right now!! I have had the craziest, most spontaneous, and incredible time growing with my pledge class and I thank God everyday for what he has done for me through this chapter. #gobuaxo

And finally, crusty collins. Ruth Collins Hall was the most disgusting and old building I have ever lived in, but the people there made it the very best home. Collins is where I met my first college friends, and those friends I will hold on to forever. Thanks for the mems, Ruthie!! #rushcollins242

And that, my friends, is the conclusion of my unfiltered review of my first year of college. Yes, I realize I did not talk at all about academics. That was on purpose!! I am hoping to do a blog post soon about my major/minor and what I plan to do in the future!

Thanks for reading, again. Until next time,

Alyssa
