Hi everyone!! I'm sorry it has been such a hot minute since I have posted. The end of my freshman semester has been super hectic but I am finally on break for summer. And thank the Lord for that because I was hanging on by a thread. Finals season gets you.
Two weeks before the semester ended, I had the privilege of writing an article for The Bundle Magazine, Baylor University's magazine for the journalism department. This piece meant a lot to me personally, and I put hours and hours into writing it to make sure it was everything I wanted it to be and more. This piece is mainly about how college students are faced with so many struggles and temptations during their time at a university, and how I often found myself caught up in the college lifestyle as well.
I was inspired to write this piece based on a sermon from Dale Wallace, the lead pastor and director of Vertical Ministries in Waco. This specific sermon was called " Say Cheese: God's Love". Dale explores the depth and truth that comes with Christianity, even if it sounds cheesy. Part of this truth stems from being yourself and remaining constant in your faith despite any outside forces that might interfere. The way I interpreted this sermon resulted in my article for the Bundle Magazine.
For this article I interviewed both Dale Wallace and Baylor University's chaplain, Burt Burleson. I wanted to get additional perspective of two Godly figures on Baylor's campus. With these two interviews I was given so much advice about how to remain constant in my faith, and because of this, I included all of this advice in my article. The words of encouragement from both Dale and Mr. Burleson helped me in so many ways, and I really wanted to share that in my article.
There is something about seeing your name next to a published article that makes you so so proud. Getting this article published was definitely the encouragement I needed to keep up with my blog and to continue writing.
So, now that I have talked all about this crazy long process, here is my article! I have linked it below as well as Dale Wallace's original sermon that inspired me from the beginning!
Thanks for all the love,
Alyssa
Also a quick side not, any grammar/spelling errors were not in my original article, there must have been some confusion while the editing process was in the works!
